Just when we think we’ve seen every French manicure design—seriously, we’ve been collecting inspiration for years—Kate Hudson shows up at the Critics’ Choice Awards and the Producers Guild of America Awards with one of the most elegant and ethereal takes on the look we’ve ever seen.
Hudson spent the weekend serving nonstop glamour, first in a backless, black Thom Browne gown (hey, that rhymes!), then in a stunning dress with a single sheer sleeve. But while the luxuriousness of her ensembles was obvious, it takes a keen eye to notice that her manicure was just as—if not more—exquisite: a glass-like base with raised, organic-looking metallic tips that reached around the sides of her nails.
Nail artist Brittney Boyce is the mastermind behind Kate Hudson’s innovative nail design. In an Instagram post showing the Oscar-nominated actor getting ready, Boyce shared the Aprés Nail Gel-X Natural Almond Medium nails. She applied a thin coat of Kuromi’s Pretty Journey, a pale pink cat-eye-effect gel polish, followed by magnetic gel.

“I then used the Extend Gel Non-Wipe with a dot of their French Manicure Gel in French Black to create a thin 3D rose gold chrome detail at the tips,” says Boyce, who told Allure she wanted to do something different. “The combination of a metallic magnet neutral mixed with rose gold chrome came together to create something so cool and unexpected.”
The close-up confirms: This is a next-level French manicure.
And how beautiful do those nails look with her rings? Does the opulence ever stop? We can easily see this look inspiring bridal manicures—but even if getting married or attending a major Hollywood award show is not on your to-do list this year, we wouldn’t blame you if you asked your own nail artist to imitate this heavenly look just for the hell of it.
