ICYMI, wearing sunscreen is pretty much nonnegotiable, even in the winter. The good news is that brands are getting savvier with hybrid formulas chock-full of SPF that play well with other products, like Supergoop’s new Glowscreen Soft-Radiance Drops Mineral SPF 40 Drops. These drops blend into your favorite moisturizer or foundation to provide extra glow and UV protection, and to naturally enhance skin tone for an overall radiant finish.

The drops themselves are quite lightweight and nongreasy; they absorb rather quickly into the skin, making them easy to incorporate into any skin care routine (or to wear alone, TBH). The drops come in two eye-catching hues: Sunrise, a pinkish shade for fair skin tones, and Golden Hour, a medium-neutral with gold undertones that compliment medium to deep skin tones. And don’t worry, they won’t rival your go-to highlighter. Instead, they give you just a touch of soft matte radiance, so it looks as if you spent the afternoon catching rays (even if you’re actually in 40-degree NYC weather).

Here, four Glamour editors tested out the brand's new mineral sunscreen to see just how much glow and sun protection it offers. Spoiler alert: Supergoop Glowscreen Drops exceeded our expectations, and then some.

Supergoop Glowscreen Soft-Radiance Drops Mineral SPF 40

I recently came back from a trip to Florida where I was able to actually catch some sun. Let’s just say, these dewy drops allowed me to fake a face tan, giving me just the right amount of glow without looking shiny or greasy. I was curious to see whether this sunscreen would play with my combination, acne-prone skin type. Typically, I stay away from sunscreen drops because they’re often too oily for me, but I was pleasantly surprised at the texture: The formula is silky without being slippery, blends easily without leaving behind stickiness or residue, and most importantly, didn’t pill, which is a huge win when combining drops like this into my face products.

I added two drops into my tinted moisturizer, swirled it on the back of my hand with a stippling brush, and applied all over for instant radiance. Throughout the day, I bopped around downtown both in and out of the sun, and the skin tint stayed put. I looked fresh and glowy, without any fading or dullness. Needless to say, I’ll be faking the glow ’til I make it throughout the rest of this NYC winter.

Supergoop Glowscreen Soft-Radiance Drops Mineral SPF 40

Truthfully, I’m not the biggest Supergoop sunscreen fan—the consistency tends to be too thick for my combo, oily skin—but I was pleasantly surprised to find that these glow drops absorbed nicely. It didn’t feel as if it sat on my face, which is ideal when layering under makeup products. It’s very runny, though, so application can be a little messy. Since there’s a tint to it, a watery consistency always makes me wary of staining my clothes. (I used my hands to rub it all over my face, so I’d recommend a makeup brush.) Overall, this is a great tinted sunscreen if you’re going for a no-makeup look. (In the above image, I’m wearing it with just blush.) I would love a neutral shade that would suit my undertone better. While I love the glowy, radiant finish, it did feel a bit too orange on me upon first application. But once I added some blush and the rest of my makeup, it all worked out beautifully.

Supergoop Glowscreen Soft-Radiance Drops Mineral SPF 40

I’m a yearslong fan of everything Supergoop does, especially the brand’s Play and Supergoop Unseen sunscreens. The only thing that I’ve not had much luck with is Glowscreen. Though I liked the idea of it, I found that it left me looking kind of oily and a little too shiny. So I was excited to try this new formula—and pleased to find that it’s exactly what I’d hoped Glowscreen would be. The formula is light but quickly absorbs into my skin without leaving a white cast. My sensitive skin doesn’t feel as if it’s wearing any sunscreen at all—there’s no shine, just a slight pearlescent glow. In this picture, I’m wearing the SPF, a concealer, and blush. It doesn’t offer coverage, but I’m fine with that. Truly, all I wanted was a little radiance, and this delivered.

My skin can resemble an oil spill by midday, so I usually stay away from glow-enhancing products. I was a bit skeptical when I tried Supergoop’s latest Glowscreen, but I decided to give it a go—especially since SPF is a must in my routine. I don’t use SPF 30 or under, so I was grateful for the SPF 40 sun protection. I mixed a teaspoon of sunscreen (the recommended amount to cover the whole face, BTW) with my favorite foundation of all time, Pat McGrath Labs Skin Fetish Sublime Perfection Foundation, and applied my foundation as usual.

To my surprise, the sunscreen delivered on its promise to add a back-lit glow to my makeup. My skin didn’t look too shiny or reflective—instead, my foundation had a subtle radiance. My only note is the sunscreen-y smell, which is hard to avoid with most formulas. After a few minutes the scent dissipated. I can’t wait to try this without makeup, especially during a sunny vacation getaway. I have a feeling it will look even better when I have a good tan going.
